The Midwest Employee Benefit Funds Coalition (MBEFC) has
contracted with EPIC Hearing Healthcare to provide for the
participants hearing healthcare needs. The MEBFC is committted
to helping its Member Funds by offering a hearing program that
provides all the elements necessary to accomodate hearing needs
at the best prices. Below are the Hearing Service Plan options
available through EPIC:
For Funds with a Self-funded hearing benefit - ASO
Savings Plan (No Access/Premium)
The MEBFC and its Member Funds get the best pricing on all
manufacture brand-name hearing instruments and accessories
representing savings from 40-60% off MSRP. In addition,
EPIC will coordinate with any dollar allocations or other plan
coverage, as specified by the individual Funds, in order to maximize
that benefit on behalf of the participant and the Fund. EPIC will
also provide management of all in and out-of-network claims.
For Funds who want an insured benefit - Insured Hearing
Plan
MEBFC Funds and participants can purchase an insured indemnity-based
plan for hearing exams and devices with a substantial premium rate
fee reduction available exclusively to MEBFC Members starting as low
as $0.28 for an exam benefit and $0.90 for a device benefit. This
represents savings of over 40%.
For Funds that want to transition from a self-insured to an insured
hearing aid benefit for their participants, EPIC will review the Fund's
hearing aid claims for the past 12 months and base the insured plan
premiums in accordance with those payouts. (The idea is to provide
monetary savings and adminstrative efficiency to the Fund.)
For Funds that do not have a hearing benefit - Added-
Value Benefit
MEBFC Funds can offer EPIC as an added-value benefit. EPIC will provide
all marketing literature and administration.
